how to remove sticky residue left from overlays?

Hey,
I just took off my headlight overlays and it left a sticky residue on my headlights. I tried using soap and scrubbing the hell out of it, but it wont come off. Anybody know how to get this crap off?

Goo Gone for the OTC choice.

Autoglym Intensiv Tar Remover for the online purchase.

Goof Off (similar to Goo Gone), or Afta will do the job.

I've used Goof Off on everything from my motorcycle (windscreen), headlights and taillights on my G, as well as on the body itself to remove residue from badges. Not too familiar with Goo Gone though, so that may be the culprit.

I would be careful when using GOOF OFF, i use this stuff to remove grafetti off buildings when i am at work, and it strips the doors down to bare metal. I know for a fact that GOO GONE is safe because i used that to remove the residue when i debaged my car.

Goo Gone - Safe

Goof Off - Effective, but can cause a lot of damage

I'd be scared to use wd40 but I know goo gone works I've used that to get road striping paint off one of my cars before. It works great also good for tar or oil that has dried on rocker panels.
