Killer Case of Road Film
Hey all,
I got my 05 IP Coupe a couple of weeks ago and I have completely detailed the car inside and out. I love it. The only problem is I have what looks like a pretty bad case of road film on my windshield. Its driving me crazy because it has an oily glare at night when a car passes with it's headlights on or when I pass a street light. I'm looking around to see what will take care of this (I used several "high quality" glass cleaner that are supposed to be much better than windex but it didnt work) and I'm curious if anyone has used anything they would recommend. If not I will just keep experimenting...Thanks in advanced

ACETONE!
No, but really I just use glass plus on it (a cheap window cleaner) and call it a day. It takes care of most of the problem, but I am looking for some better cleaner myself.
I bought myself some Rain-X a while back and never used it because I heard from people that it causes glazing like you are describing because it is supposed to "seal" out the rain, so I cannot comment about that stuff.
I have heard good things about invisible glass, have you tried that yet?

I tried straight newspaper with Windex the other day, it ripped the newspaper to shreads.
But I will continue to try to clean my glass because it's really, really starting to **** me off that I can't get these hard water spots off. I am thinking about buying this: http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...dept%5Fid=1097

Here's a trick I got from an auto glass replacement company... They use Comet (or similar abrasive) to get the worst crap off the windows. I have tried it on the wife's car when she had parked under a tree a few weeks earlier. Nothing was going to get that crap off. The Comet did. It also removes anything that is causing streaks on the windshield. (ONLY USE IT ON THE WINDOWS!)

Be careful with the comet. Go to Autopia.org and do a search. I vaguely recall someone warning that there is only 1 type of comet type cleaner that should be used (unless you want scratching). I don't think comet was the brand. I just don't recall the right brand right now. The last thing you want to do ist put scratches in the glass.
