I'am trying to clean the brake dust off the wheels and it looks like it has
stained the wheels, can I get this out of the wheels what do you guys use.

I'am using Meguiar's all wheel cleaner, and it gets most of the dust
then there's the rest that looks like it has stained the wheel
and that will not come out.

When I put the cleaner on, the wheels were cold let set for 30sec.
then wash off. Do you think the P21s will get the stain out.

What type of wash media are using (mitt, MF towel, dish rag, a squirrel)?
Are you just using the wheel cleaner and spraying it off with the hose?

If using the cleaner and agitating with a soapy car wash solution isn't removing the contaminants you will have to resort to other methods.

Automotive clay works well on removing stuff from wheels. Use a dedicated piece of clay for your wheels and don't use it on the car.
You can also use a "paint cleaner" to remove some stubborn spots as suggested above.

If these methods don't work then you may have stains or damaged clear coat on the wheels.

 

I have the same question, how are you washing it? I've had very good experience w/ P21s but you must thoroughly scrub it with the sponge that comes in the package, anywhere u don't scrub doesn't really look different.

I've never tried it, but I do know gasoline can clean quite a few things pretty well...u could give it a try, but like I said I've never used it on a car so not sure of the results, i've only used it to get stains out of clothes after working on cars, but u never know

 

brake dust can be a real mother fucer to get off..thats why you
have to stay on top of it

 

I've also used P21S' Wheel Cleaner with much success.

I've gone two months without washing the wheels, and it's my daily driver. Used P21S, let the gel soak for a couple hours, hosed it off, then used the sponge to get the rest off. Very easy.

 

I apply a product called Wheel Wax every few months.
I can wash my wheels with soap and water and they come clean with no problems.
This product is designed to repel brake dust AND IT WORKS.

 

The advice given so far has been very good. If brake dust isn't coming off by spraying it on and rinsing it off, you typically will have to agitate the surface to get the results you are looking for.

For real stubborn brake dust, try using a metal polish like P21s Finish Restorer. After you get your wheels in the condition you want them in, the best thing you can do is invest in proper products to prevent this from happening again and to properly clean them regularly.

As Mr. Wonderful mentioned in the last post, using a product like Wheel Wax or Poorboy's Wheel Sealant right after polishing your wheels is the best thing you can do. Both products will add a protective barrier to your wheels making future cleaning significantly easier. To maintain your protected wheels, all you need is a dedicated wash mitt, and automotive shampoo and water. Treat your wheels just as you would your paint using the two bucket wash method and reapplying the wheel sealant / wax every 2 - 3 months for optimal results.

Cleaning your wheels will never be easier and they will look much better longer.

Is it weird that I"m only getting brake dust on just the rear driver's side and not the passengers side as well. shouldn't I have equal brake dust on both sides?

How do I get hold of the wheels cleaner P21s that is mentioned in this post I have an 03 G35 Coupe and the front wheels are terrible. How much is the product? Thanks

How new is your car? When new, you always get some weird brake dust, almost like someone sprayed it on the wheel. That should subside soon if the car is really new.What is a squirrel?
