Poll: Best Wax
What's the best car wax to use?
What about spray products, like the ones they use indoors at auto shows?
Any suggestions?
'07 Obsidian Black G35S - First black car I've owned.
I never realized how hard it is to keep shiny.
Even after washing and drying it, you can see streaks.
My last car was silver, so it hid most of the imperfections.
Any other tips to keep a black car shiny are appreciated.

Zaino, poorboys, meguire's are all good products. I believe they use quick detailer at car shows, not wax. They wax before and use quick detailer to keep dust off.
I've had my 03.5 black sedan almost 5 years and other than some rock chips up front, the paint still looks really good. I used Zaino in the early days, but now I find that using the Meguiars #9 swirl remover, followed by the NXT techwax works as good or better for 1/3 the price of Zaino.
I do that every 4 months and it stays well protected and swirl free if washed properly.

There is no best, each product has its pros and cons, be it cost, durability, look, availability, or ease of application. My personal choice at this moment is Meguiar's #21 synthetic sealant, with Duragloss Aquawax as a topper. My choice in quick detailer is Meg's detailer's line last touch, since it comes in a gallon, and makes a great dilutable clay lubricant.
G Wiz,
Congrats on your new purchase. The G35 is a very nice vehicle.
While this doesn't exactly answer your question about what is "the best wax", I'd really like to take the time to emphasize that when owning a black colored vehicle, or any vehicle you wish to keep looking its best, requires a lot of knowledge on detailing. The biggest thing I can stress to you is that choosing one product over another, particularly a wax, will not make that much of a difference. Real results in detailing come from proper prep work, which consists of removing contamination from washing & drying and using a Clay Bar. The second half of the prep work is removing imperfections, such as scratches, swirls, water spots, oxidation, etc. by properly polishing your paint.
Once your paint is properly prepped, your paint will look better than it ever has. Topping the prep work with a sealant or wax will only enhance your looks even further, while adding layer(s) of protection on top.
One of the biggest things I can stress about owning a new black vehicle, is investing in the proper washing and drying tools. Swirls and other imperfections, or "streaks", come primarily from improper washing and drying tools and techniques.
A must have list for a black vehicle would consist of:
This should help get you started in the right direction. If you need any help putting together a package to fit your needs let me know and I'd be happy to help pick one out.
Congrats again on the new vehicle!

A must have list for a black vehicle would consist of:
- Quality automotive shampoo
- 3x Paint safe wash mitts (1 for higher panels, 1 for lower panels and bumpers, 1 for wheels)
- Waffle weave drying towels
- Grit Guard Insert
- 2x 5 gallon wash buckets
This should help get you started in the right direction. If you need any help putting together a package to fit your needs let me know and I'd be happy to help pick one out.
Congrats again on the new vehicle!

The best sealant that I have personally used is Zaino Z2/Z5. I want to try Menzerna's FMJ next though since I've heard lots of positive things about it. To the OP, since you have a BO G, I would definitely follow up your sealant with a good carnuba. That will give your paint some added depth and gloss that a sealant can't provide. I use Natty Blue's Paste Wax on my G since it is formulated for darker colors, and I love the results it gives.

Awesome results.....it definitely added a deep dark luster to the body....reflective but still attaining its deep black rich color....
I definitely recommend Natty's for dark colored vehicles.
And I especially love the generic no-nonsense label and the pleasant bubble-gum scent.
Thanks for the suggestions.
