Unhappy Ruined almost every body panel :(

Yesterday I washed and clayed my car. Ive never had a problem in the past with clay bars, they always made my paint look and feel awesome. But yesterday, I used this new clay bar i bought off ebay, and it marred almost every entire body panel. I think it was wayyy to abrasive for my G. What should I do now? I know these holograms/marring wont come out by hand....so I know ima have to pick up a PC 7424. Anyone have any tips on what polish/pads/ I should get, and where the best deal is? Should I pick up both the Menzerna IP and FPII ?

Damn homie I hope your paint is okay. Never use any cleaning or waxing products from Ebay. Go to a store that sells good products.

That is a lot of good stuff but if you have never buffed b4 you cause more harm than good. Ex you can burn the clear, add swirls and halograms all over. You can get a good buff for much less than that. just my 2 cents

Do you have any pics of the damage? We're all wondering how bad it really is.

chilibowl,

Most medium grade clay bars are expected to leave some marring behind, perhaps you received one of them. I almost always recommend a fine grade bar, unless the car is extremely neglected or you are trying to remove paint over spray.

The combination of products you selected would be a great choice to begin restoring your vehicle. You are right, the PC will safely remove the marring when used properly, with little to worry about further damaging your paint. From my experience with the PC and Menzerna polishes, if you can manage to screw up your finish with the two, you can certainly correct it. Most of the time it's just learning the proper technique for the PC and there are enough how-to guides and videos to read up on before using it on your vehicle. Here is our step-by-step guide for polishing with the Porter Cable 7424.

If you have any other questions or need a hand selecting products, please do not hesitate to contact me.

You'll get your finish back sooner than you think with the proper products and tools.

George
