Hi, everyone. I have a new 08 g35x Blue slate in the garage. I want to get a tint and clear bra in about two weeks. My question is can I put something on the paint first? Like a wax, or sealant? will the clear bra going over it matter? I have some Menzerna FMJ on order but am anxious to put something on the paint. Its washed ready to go for more detailing, just don't know if I should protect now or wait till the clear bra is on. Don't want to make stupid mistakes on such a beautiful car!

A reputable installer will properly prepare all surfaces to be covered but ask them to be sure. The area should be virgin clean which is why I had a 3M certified installer do my car before it ever left the lot. Discuss this with your installer.

Don't wax the car before the clear bra. I have one on my G and the surface has to be wax-free for install.
My installer cleaned the area thoroughly before installing.
Be sure to have someone with a lot of experience do the install.
It's not as easy as it looks.

 

In addition to the bra, I also had 3M placed over my headlights to protect them from damage.
It is very thick - I think it is 22mm. It was $50 extra for that.

I ended up waiting just a couple days, and got the Clear bra and tint. I put nothing on the paint, they do clean the areas anyway no matter what you may have put on there. Used Jays Tint Shop Seattle Kirkland area. Headlights,
All the front end, front fenders & lower hood, and all door edges and mirror backs. All edges wrapped. Normal price is 599.00 and 299.00 for tint. He knocks of 50 bucks for doing both. He still is maybe 200 higher than average but the work is top notch.
