Car care suggestions?

OK, I know this is an exremely newbie question, but I just bought my GCoupe and I am finding that I am much more particular about this car than I have been about others in the past. I have always taken my cars through quick car washes at gas stations or similar. Yea, I know some of you have to be cringing right now, but I am trying to change my ways. I was planning on giving my G its first wash on Saturday and wanted some suggestions as to what I should and should not use. I had read a post about the Mr. Clean spotfree car system here the other day and thought I would try it out. But, I would still apreciate whatever other suggestions some might have.

I don't know about Mr. Clean product. Everyone has their own preference. He is mine for car soap & wax. I've been using Malm's car wax for years on my cars. It is pure Carnauba wax, with "no" abrasives. It applies easy and the best part, rubs off very easily with a diaper or a very soft cloth. The wax doesn't leave any residue around rubber, lights or creases. When you buy their product, it comes with a booklet called: Car detailer's secrets. Talks about washing, polishing & waxing. The company is in New York. You can only purchase their products from them directly. Check out: Malms.com One thing, there products are little on the expensive side. I beleive its worth the price for the quality. They also make a car wash soap that is super mild & doesn't strip off wax. My G35c & 300zxtt are black. I have no complaints. Hope this helps.

do your best not to create more swirls/damage that you will have to cover up later. Use a 2 bucket method (one to rinse out dirty towel and the other to soap it up). Use several towels during the wash itself. Regardless of your rinsing, they will retain more and more dirt as you go along. Wash all panels vertically (from the top of the hood down, and up and down on the sides of the car.)
