So... Who wants to remove swirls?
So... Who wants to remove swirls?
This past weekend I tried something to remove swirls on my black G. I must say, it is AMAZING! I got out about 90% of them BY HAND in 2 hours! Here is what I did. I washed my car (or get it washed) dosen't matter, as long as it's clean. Let it dry completly (try to remove all water spots but if there are some it's not such a HUGE deal)
Now what I did is that I compounded my entire car by hand with this stuff. It's called Presta Chroma 1500. It is a cleaner glaze (whatever that means) it's compound basically. I put it on a t-shirt and rubbed it into the paint in a circular motion. I did one panel at a time continually working it into the paint. When it's evenly spread start working it more. You will see it to start to dissapear. There is a point where you cannot work it into the paint anymore, it will stay there. Take a clean t-shirt or rag and buff the rest off. LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE! It's quick, not complex, and helps. Of course if you did it in a professional manner you could get them all off but this is quick, cheep, and easy.
After the entire car is compounded wax the car with Presta Fast Wax. I got it from my body shop. Presta Fast wax is very easy to use. It's very watery too. Make sure you shake the bottle well before everytime you put some on the pad. Pour some on a waxing pad or t-shirt and rub it into the paint in a circular motion. You should only do one panel at a time. Start buffing it off. If you wait the rigth ammount of time (1-3 minutes) if sould come off soooo easy it's scary. A light rub with a t-shirt buffs the wax off with next to no dust. You can do the whole car in 45 minutes with wax with expierence. My car looks like glass now. Someone try it and let me know. I wouldn't be posting it if it didn't. I got these from by Body Shop guy. I have no idea where to get them online. Both products cost me about $40 together. Also the wax keeps alot of the dust off from driving in my expierence.

Re: So... Who wants to remove swirls?
I feel your pain...
My car is ivory pearl, and after this winter, even though I kept it as clean as possible, theres all kinds of small swirl/scratches in the paint....
On my car its so hard to see, but they are there.......
I know every one is pro zaino on this site, but i'm going to try a different approach.
I'm purchasing the Klasse two stage cleaner/glaze system and top it off with a coat of PS21 carnauba wax...and detail w/Sonus detail spray between waxing....
I've heard nothing but good results from this method, and if the swirl marks really get to me, I'll try the power buff method.

It's only a matter of time before I buy a Porter Cable buffer. Can I practice on your white G?

Hey GR8TG35 ...let us know how you make out, will be going
the same route once it warms up here, have been using Zaino
but 33$ Canadian for the 2oz bottle seems a bit high, might try half the trunk with Zaino and other half with Klasse, spoke
to Zaino and of course you need the ZFX even if you let
it dry overnight and Klasse was an outdated formula that has
not changed since the 60's, and I'm too polite to say what he said about Meguirs

Re: So... Who wants to remove swirls?
I use the same stuff you use. But with this damn snowy Jersey weather, I've only cleaned my car twice since I got it in November.

Re: So... Who wants to remove swirls?
I rec'vd my order and did a small "test" on my wifes G20..
Her hood has alot of small swirl marks along with a few bigger scratch marks.....
I put a small amout of the all in one on a towel and lightly rubbed in a small circle....within a few moments half or more of the marks had disappeared! I think this stuff will kick a$$
when I do my car I will take some pics....I know they probably won't show up that well since my car is ivory pearl...but I will be honest and let you know if its worth it or stay with the zaino process....2old4this

Re: So... Who wants to remove swirls?
Why a 1500, and not a 2000? I think the 1500 dulls the clear coat on a black car. When I repaired a front bumber rash, I repainted and sanded to a 1000, then 1500. I didn't get the depth and shine back till I used a 2000 liquid.
....for lighter marks don't you want a 2000 or higher?
