Paint protection

Has anyone had any experience with paint protection coatings (other than waxes and silicone shines etc)? I believe this is one of those "options" they have when you purchase at the dealership, but I just wanted to know if anyone knows what exactly they use to "protect" the paint. I searched and found this:

http://www.colourshield.com/store/in...ain_page=index

and this

http://www.5starshine.com/spo.html?g...FQacggod8B6Pag

and this

http://autopolish.net/catalog.asp

which claims to be a 5 year protective coating. Please let me know. I'm interested in something that has a durable coating for the whole car (aside from the 3M invis bra I already applied). Anyone have any experience with PPS products (PTFE) or Glassplexin products? Thanks in advance!

I don't know anything about those products, but for our G35, we go the invisible bra "option" installed. I've seen it on other cars and I think it's an awesome idea. I'm pretty sure anything they put on your paint that's not a physical piece of something that covers your paint will not really last.

Snake oil. There is no such thing as a 5 year protective coating. If there was manfacturers would use it.

Good point, but infiniti dealerships offer this type of coating as an extra option. I just wanted to know if anyone got it done...

It is a scam

The best you're going to do is spend on the order of $50 and use Klasse or Zaino products yourself. Even then, you'll need to apply them every six months.

All of these advertisements for 5-yr polishes are a load of BS.

The fact that the F&I guy at Infiniti dealerships doesn't matter. That person tries to sell all kinds of bogus stuff.

Like the other poster said, if such a product as a 5-yr or lifetime paint protectant existed, manufacturers would use it.

Like everyone else said, its another gimick to remove money from your wallet.
Oh sure, it may last for 6 months to a year, but then you have to "refresh" the finish after that.

In my opinion, the cars treated with these miracle waxes don't even shine half as well as someone who takes the time every couple of months and hand massages the finish themselves with a good polish/wax treatment.
