Hey guys,

I have a 05 OB coupe, and I have used almost every type of wax on it.

I gave the Turtle Wax "Black wax" a try, this is the wax that is made only for black cars. They also make red, and I think green.

This does a much better job at covering up scratches then the regualr white wax's I have used. The rock chips that would usually "pop" out and make the car look like it had speckles on it are now not visable. Those with black cars know how bad the rock chips can look, right near the rock chip gaurd in-front of my rear wheels is where it was really bad.

I also put a coat of Mothers wax on-top of the Turttle Wax black wax, just to give it a better seal. But I stayed away from the areas of heavy rock-chips because they white would stand out again.

I would recomend anyone with a black car give black wax a try.

Just want to know if anyone knows of any other brands of "black wax" that are better than the Turttle Wax I used.

Haha the title says "[b]BACK WAX[b]" and I thought this thread was about something totally different.

I have a OB g35 with plenty of rock chips, I might look into this. Sounds like this might have a filler in it. Any pics?

 

AHAHAH yeaI just changed it my bad.

I dont have any pics, and the car is dirty now, but I will snap some this week. Will probably put another coat on it.

Also it comes with a "chip stick" that you can fill in the bigg rock chips with.

 

Have you tried souveran or nxt. Those work great on dark cars.

 

Actually, I wasn't a big fan of NXT vs. Meguiar's Cleaner Wax followed with Megiar's Deep Crystal Carnuaba Wax. The NXT definitely went on and came off easier, however, there was no noticeable difference in shine and luster vs just regular Meguiar's.

 

I personally can't wait to use my Poorboys Blue Paste, which is supposed to be amazing on darker colored cars plus some Poorboy's EX-P Sealant definitely won't hurt either.

 

Did you polish the car properly ???

 

I had a Black Jeep Cherokee that I hade beat to death in the woods. I cleaned it up real good and waxed it with the Black Wax. It looked great for the trade, but I don't know how long it looked good.

I remember the black wax was a bitch to was off my hands.

 

is the product called "black wax"? i can't find it on the turtle site, or is it the color magic car polish?

 

Thats what it is, I'm pretty sure it is a "wax".

But I dont know how good the stuff lasts so I put a coat of mothers wax on-top of it. Just stayed away from the rock chipped areas.

I used to love this stuff when I had my Black 350Z.... Just make sure you have alot of MF towels around to buff the wax off...

 

Using a colored wax to try and mask scratches in a clearcoated finish is a poor substitute for a real polishing job and correct finish application
