Yes guys, you still use a wash mitt. You soak the car first to loosen all the crap up. Then you do the usual soap and bucket (2 bucket preferred), and wash like you normally would. The pre-soak just helps loosen the dirt off to help prevent swirling of the paint.
The faom gun above will give you a little more foam but a misconception is that lots of foam means it's better, not true. Lubricity is the name of the game and that can be done with foam or without. Look at Optimum No Rinse. There is no foam at all, not even a bubble and that stuff works amazingly well. Also, the foam gun pictured above will run you, at MINIMUM, $60.00 where as what I use will cost you $7.99. So yes, the foam gun gives you more foam, but foam isn't what's important, lubricity is. However if foam was the main objective, I don't know if I think the foam gun gives you $52 worth of more foam.

Pretty true to some extent. I don't know if I buy the fact that the foam will really encapsulate the dirt so to speak. The kind of dirt that would just fall into a soap bubble will surely also come right off when rinsing the car. For stuff that's really gunked on the car, heavy foam is mostly air bubbles and can lack the real wetness needed to start breaking the grime down. Either way, both are going to work and accomplish what we want it to. If someone wants to spend $60 on a foam gun, go for it. For me personally, I can't justify the cost if I have something that will basically do the same thing.

$8 is cleap but don't you have to use up the stuff inside first?
Wouldn't this work also?

You don't have to rinse the car first. Soak the car in soap, let it sit for 3 or 4 minutes and then take your mitt out of the bucket and wash as normal. As for using the stuff inside first, you don't have to use the exact thing I did. I'm assuming some of the other guns posted would do a similar job. I just happened to have an almost empty bottle of the stuff and the thought came to me to try it. I just dumped out what little fluid was left, cleaned it out and went to town.
