I know it's not an Ideal tool for detailing, but is it a good substitute for those that don't have PC?

is it any good at all?

Good for polishing your headlights and wheels, but I'm not sure I'd use it for the body paint. Too small a surface area, and risk of burning.

wow thats a lot. i was hoping to spend about 100-115 for the PC and then maybe another 40-50 on some pads, and some more money on polishes/compounds. I was going to go with meguiars stuff from like napa autoparts store. I already have a great wax and sealant that I like.

Powerball's are great for applying light polishes, glazes, sealants and waxes, but they are not to be used for proper paint correction. would leave that to the pros and get a Powerball to save your time and joints. can do an entire car with a good one step product like Poorboy's Polish w/Sealant in less than an hour. if you have arthritis in your shoulders or elbows or want to avoid that problem in the future this is a great tool for product application.
