Mothers PowerBall 4Paint

Any pro detailer wanna give us your thoughts on this?

I know it's not an Ideal tool for detailing, but is it a good substitute for those that don't have PC?

is it any good at all?

Anyone tried it?

I have sold dozens of and used the PB for metal.. I have gone through 4 of them, if this ball works 1/2 as well then it will be a good thing. I think I would use this more for polishing painted trim and small parts, maybe on some overspray and what not, but not sure if Id do the whole car even if I didnt have my OB.

you can pick up a PC for a little over a $100... save up and get one.. using that powerball for the paint is like not using the right tool for the job.. sure, you can get something done, but if you think you are going to get the kind of results you get from a PC, then you'll probably be disappointed... i would stick with the hand method till i got a buffer..

my question is how effective it actually is

I'm not trying to compare it to a PC.

riiiiiiiight... well you probably already know the answer to this, but only someone who's actually used this before can tell you best (preferably someone who's also had experience w/ a buffer)...

IMO, i don't think you'll achieve the same results as a PC... more effective then by hand is probably another safe guess...

sounds like its just a wax applicator. The foam isn't aggressive enough and you can't apply enough pressure to actually do any significant correction IMO

Well, thats how I used to look at it too, but the porter cable is for more than that.

You use the compounds to get the swirl/oxidation/scratches out of your car, then you wax it. It only needs to be done like once every 6 months, and mabe even less for you because you have IP.

Then you just wax the car, and it will keep its shine. Even though you cant see the swirls on your IP they are still there, and if you have it compounded the paint will have alot more shine.

But I'm not an expert, contact member Detailed Image, they know there stuff and will let you know what products you should use depending on the condition of your paint.

that's what I though.

in this case why would anyone spend $30+ for a wax applicator.

The same reason people spend $30 on those autozone random orbital "buffers". They don't do **** except for apply wax
