New G35 - when/how to start protection?

New G35 - when/how to start protection?
I expect to get my Diamond Graphite G35 6-speed within a day or so. Moving up from an Eclipse 5-speed. This will be the first car I actually will want to take care of - I haven't been able to sleep since I saw the car in the showroom. Can you wax a new car or is there a curing period? Any special considerations for getting a new G off to a good start? I do not have a garage and live in MD - ice and snow in winter - hot summers.
Thanks. I'm looking forward to being a part of this group.

You can wax as soon as you get the car. The paint is baked at the factory so no curing time is required. I would highly recommend making an apointment with a place that will intall a clear bra ahead of time for either the day you pick up the car or the next. Sometimes they may be busy and not be able to take you for a week or so and you might pickup some paint chips in the meantime. IMO clear bra is a must as with a car this low paint chips will be a guarantee.

Re: New G35 - when/how to start protection?
I talked to the guy at California Tinting in Great Falls, VA. He has all the set-up to do the install. He quoted about $1100 for a G35 coupe. This is the only installer I have been able to locate so far, so I cannot compare the price, but it sounds high to me. Great Falls is not exactly a low rent district so it may be what the market will stand.

holy $hit..$1100, man that's a lot. I've heard that shops on the mainland were charging from $500 to $600 but $1100 is nuts. funny thing is though that it is worth every penny for the protection it provides. I guess I was lucky, the shop that did my tint did my deluxe kit for only $260 installed. man looking back that was a steal. took them about half a day on the bra alone.

There's really no prep work involved on your part. If the shop is good @ it, they will wash & clay the areas that the clearbra will go on beforehand.
As for pricing, $1100 is a bit high.........that's what these kits use to go for about 5 yrs ago. Now, the mkt is getting saturated and the pricing has dropped significantly.

I am totally new to this - I did not even know there was such a thing as a clear bra (see-through bras not withstanding but that's another matter). What does it usually cover? I assume you only wash it - I can't imagine you wax it. Does it ever cloud up and need to be replaced? Where can I find info on this? $1100 WOW! There must be alternatives here in a large metro area - Baltimore/DC?

The standard coverage is the front bumper, portion of the front fenders, portion of the front hood, and mirrors. The films out there should have at least a 3 yr warranty.........which could go all the way up to a lifetime. If installed correctly, it should not bubble, peel, or discolor. In addition, you could wax and polish (light polish) over the film as if it's not there. As for finding a dealer in the area, check out Autoshield.com, clearbra.com, rockblocker.com, clearshield.com
