it takes intentional effort to burn the paint w/ an orbital buffer vs. high speed buffer. When paint burns it leaves a dull surface look to it as if you lit a match on it. It will have a glazy effect on it, but bubbling shouldn't occur. To avoid burning the paint, just let the weight of the buffer press down on the paint, instead of applying pressure on the buffer.
