None the less, the best thing you could do to prevent brakedust is to clean, clay, and protect them using a heat resistant sealant, wax, or dedicated product such as "Poorboys Wheel Sealant" mentioned above. After the intial clean up, cleaning the wheels with soap and water is a breeze. Make sure to actually wipe the wheels down after the wash and not let water dry on them as the water spots left behind attract dirt and cause dirt to stick easier on the surface. Once a month re-apply the sealant.
They changed the brakes in '05, (except on the X for some reason, those changed in '06) made a huge difference, my '04 needed brakes and rotors at 15k, my '05's brakes still looked like new when I traded it with 22k. I traded my '04 for the '05 because of the brakes.
