Just took my 1100 mile G in to have a faulty wheel replaced and thought I'd pick up some touch up paint. 3 hours later, and a missing valve stem cap and botched up lock/unlock re-program, they wanted $21 and some change for the Ivory Pearl touch up paint. WTF!!!!! Accessory catalog lists it as $2.99. Shenanigans!

maybe even take in your window sticker or proof that you bought the car from their dealership...that has worked with our toyota's too.

I said no thank you and handed it back to her, and shot the Service Advisor a glance like, "I'm going to rip your *** on the survey when I get it."

Grubbs sells them for $9.00. The Ivory Pearl is a two bottle set up. One base coat, and one top coat. I understand why they're a few bucks more than regular bottles but I think the dealership must have set up their prices wrong on the cash register or something.

I'll be writing letters to the General Manager. This is service I expected at a Kia dealership.

If you pay anymore than $5 for the small bottle of touch-up paint, be sure they include some sort of lubrication, e.g. vaseline, ky jelly, etc., since you are certainly taking a fatty up the a$$.

 

The reason it costs that much is do to the fact the Ivory pearl is two stage paint.....base coat / top coat....other wise you would be as you said "taking a fatty" [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]

So I call back and ask for the parts manager who tells me that "oh, $21.50 is the RETAIL price, the LIST price is about $10 with tax and all".

So I drive back over to pick up my paint and make sure I tell me salesman in front of other customers and salesmen what a crappy time I had with service and parts. I walk over and get my $10 two stage bottles and make sure the parts manager hears me make a stink as well. From now on when I go back (I will avoid at any cost) I will make sure and always ask for the entire price break down (Retail, List, Sale, double secret probation sale, etc.)

I can't wait to get my survey. This will be a letter to Nissan for sure. Trust, I do not take fatty's and I can't remember the last time I've paid too much for anything.

By the way, there is an Ivory Pearl listed for 2.99 or 2.44 depending on where you go (it's one bottle)....this is NOT the right Ivory Pearl for the G35 Coupe. I can't tell the difference but it does have a different part number.

What are these "surveys" everyone mentions? I have had my car in three times, never got any survey other than an intial one asking about how my "dealership experience" was at sale time.

there's a survey that infiniti mails out 2-3 weeks after the purchase of the vehicle asking you how your sales person was, whether they went over the features and options of your car thoroughly, etc...

speaking of touch up paint...i'm thinking of buying a tube at the dealership...nice to know that they aren't too much.

 

Maybe I won't get one. Got one everytime after an Audi service, and with my BMW as well. Heck even Dodge sends one after you've been in for service. With Audi it was a phone call. It's just like the new car survey but regarding your maintenance experience. Mine blew and if I don't get a survey I'm writing Nissan anyway.

From the comments, I'm guessing I may not get one although my sales dude said that if they wrote up a ticket on the puter, I'll probably get one.

does the touch up paint you guys buy even match?

I bought a bottle of brilliant silver touch up paint and it doesn't match worth crap. I might as well use white out since the touch up paint stands out so much. It's a few shades lighter then the car.

 

There's 14 different kinds of gray on the G. Did you buy the right one?
