Thumbs up New member---ScratchX

Hi all, I bought a 2007 Laser red coupe a month ago and this past weekend I was playing in a softball tourney, when I came back to my car I noticed that I had water spots all over!! The temp was 95 degrees and I was parked for about 4 hours. Anyway, I tried the clay bar, vinegar and distilled water and none of those items worked. ScratchX took them out and it also made my paint look like new. I am excited to be a member here, and look forward to learning a lot about my new ride. Sorry for no pics.

Sorry about the spots, but glad you got them off. I find the best defense to our lovely Southwest water is to never park near a lawn, or even anything that gets watered.

So, what is the proper way? I didn't have much luck with it either.

You have to work very small areas, and rub it in with alot of "passion". The abrasives in it are very fine and break down relatively quickly because its meant to be used by hand. You will also likely have to reapply it to an area multiple times to get enough correction. It works, many pros use it when they need to hit small area's that a machine won't work like under door handles and whatnot.

I used the claybar first, then applied the ScratchX in about a 1'x1' area, I rubbed it in all directions, up and down, left to right and circular. I did have to go over a few areas twice. I am just glad I found something that worked!

I'm glad you got good results. Many people just put it on and wipe it off like wax. You have to realize that you are trying to remove microscopic amounts of clearcoat paint in order to level out the swirls. Thus, you have to rub it in vigorously in order to work the abrasives as Redlude stated. Rub it until it goes clear. Work in small sections of six inches by six inches or less. The car should almost be shaking. You need to work it that hard. It is a good product if you use it correctly.
