damaged paint, please help!

so i had a few very fine scratches in my clear coat and decided to use some turtle wax polishing compound that i had sitting in my garage. (the stuff that comes in a white tub with a green label) anyways, after washing my car and using this compound, it seems to have left a haze in the area it was applied (almost like a bunch of fine scratches). they arent deep, and can only be seen under certain light conditions, im hoping i can repair the damage, what do you think is my best option?

You need to use a finer polish after using a compound.

How did you apply the compound? By machine i hope.

Try something like optimum polish or mezerna final polish.

Go to a local auto shop or even Wal-Mart and get meguiar's Scratch-X. Rub it vigorously over the hazed areas. And I mean vigorously until it goes completely clear. Do small areas at a time. It should work and costs less than $10.

I'd HIGHLY suggest finding a reputable detailer and shelling out the $ for a PROFESSIONAL detail. Consider it an investment. Have those guys detail it once and all you have to do it maintain.

If you keep trying to "fix" it, you might end up with permanent damage.

Yeah, so try it. I've used it on my black coupe with very good results for small areas like you seem to be talking about. I wouldn't just run out to a detailer. If it works, you are way ahead of the game. If it doesn't, make sure you take it to a very reputable detailer. Go to autopia.org and look around for a detailer in your area.
