Re: 1st tint ticket...

bah, cop must be an a-hole. i really hope i don't get more than one or two tickets for my tint when i get it. 35% all the way around living in bergen county, nj. right by the gwb. shouldn't be too bad since its right next to ny. definitely a problem if i go further north though.

Re: 1st tint ticket...

I recommend you take it to a good tint shop to remove it. The last thing you want to do is scratch up the glass removing the leftover adhesives. Expect it to cost you around $20-$30 per window.

Re: 1st tint ticket...

In some states, you can opt to not fix it and pay a stiffer fine. This may be cheaper than removing the tint + the ticket. Man I hate cops - can you say "quota".

I love it in Vegas though. Cops don't look at me twice with limo tint on my front side windows.

too bad they're not as lenient here in Cali.......I guess the heat you guys get justifies it.

Check out how much it would cost for you to pay the fine, versus having your old tint steamed off, then re-tinting at a legal #.

gdup-- like you'd see a cop trying to pull you over, anyway, haha... Just so everyone knows, Ken (gdup) won't drive at night cuz it's impossible to SEE out of his car, lol.

Re: 1st tint ticket...

in nj you can't have ANY tint on the front driver/passenger side windows. back and rear is fine. they're somewhat lenient around this area only beacuse they see cars from NY coming all the time with dark tints. that's pretty much the only reason why i'm willing to tint my car. just that i can't drive further north to any of my friend's house or else i probably would get a ticket. since it's summer i guess windows down is ok. but winter, heck no.

Re: 1st tint ticket...

Where in Cali did you get nailed for this? I need to avoid that area as I have tint just short of limo tint. In Los Angeles, I don't think the cops even blink twice at a dark tint due to the many cars in LA that have dark tint and also cause they are to busy with other more serious stuff.

the way it works in jersey..i gotta pay the 47 bucks whether i take it off or not..... i just dont want the headache of looking around for cops and stuff, especially now that i got my first ticket....i guess its just not worth it to me.

What a happy day

I just went outside to see how i could go about taking the front windows off.....peeled at the corner of the window....and it pulled RIGHT off...no adhesive on the window or anything..no blades..just my fingernail to get it started...boy am i happy..and by keeping the tint on the back two and back windshield....it still looks kinda dark inside....

conclusion of the story:
if you're not ready to get tickets for your tint, dont tint your front windows illegally....

Re: What a happy day

i'm putting 35% because i think it would be light enough to avoid cops yet seem a little darker since we both have graphite interior. hmm, then again i'm in a different part of jersey than you. maybe i'll get lucky? i'm willing to pay for 2-3 tickets, but if it gets too much i'll probably take it off.

Re: What a happy day

When I lived up in bergen county I tinted my side windows only on my RX7, it still provided some privacy, but from the rear it didn't look like there was any tint at all......I got away with that set up for ten years before I decided to sell it....also had no front plate either.....just a rebel I guess.....
