I have to admit, the paint on the G35 really sucks. I just got my bumper repainted two weeks ago because of dealership damage and I have a ton of rock chips on the front of my bumper. I probably had twice as many before they repainted it as well.

I was waiting until summer to get a clear bra, but now I am going to have to factor in the cost of repainting the bumper. Maybe I should just go with the Nismo Replica Bumper?

Anyways, who else has these annoying rock chips?

JOIN THE CLUB MAN! I need to repaint as well...The paint on the G's sucks orange peal like crazy and chip like bugs. Does anyone know if the clear bra really works or is it hype?

I gave up already and just factored in the cost of repainting the front end as regular maintence at this point. I mean it's hopeless, I even have one or two chips on the side of the car. the front I understand but the side for crying out loud. This Paint is WEAK!!

 

my is pretty bad too. getting it repainted will never be as good as oem. the paint is actually impregnated onto the bumper.

 

I have a bunch on my front bumper, and a couple on my hood. Whats worse is I have black. Yep the paint is crappy

i had my car since january and i only got 2 rock chips so far.
60fwy has alot of trucks and i'm surprised i dont have many.
i'd like to keep it that way.

 

The paint is pretty crappy, but it LOOKS good at least? x_O I have black too.

Considering I've never driven on the free way in traffic, avoid all trucks or big cars in front of me, only have 2000 miles in 8 months, and never drive in the rain as a few examples .. I still have .. THREE rock chips. That's pathetic for the amount of care I put in.

I must be the lucky one in the group or it's still too soon. I've had my car 3 months and drive the freeway 5 days per week. I keep a good distance from the cars in front of me and stay away from driving behind trucks. I know my luck won't last forever and I already have a bottle of touch-up for when it happens.

My car just turned 10,000 miles last night, and I drive mostly highway at speeds of 70-80mph.....my front bumper is as rough as sandpaper........and the lower valance part is totally chipped to sh-t. I figure I'll have to repaint the bumper every Year at this point....but i'm afraid of the paint not matching.....(many have said the ivory pearl is the worst to match)...so I guess I'm damned if I do, and damned if I don't..........

Well the good folks at Sewell sent mine out to get redone along with the bumper where I got a nice gouge...all done for no cheese...but rock chips are a bitch, I know when they repaint they put some flex spray along with the paint that seems to make it harder

I have a bunch of little ones on the tip of my hood, right above my grille, all the way across. I have 3 big ones on the hood up as far as the windshield, and 2 in a row on my right fender between my right front tire and the passenger door. I primarily drive surface streets to work, and maybe twice a week I'll take the freeway home, which is only 12 miles. I do have the touch up paint. Maybe today I'll get out there with a toothpick and fix a few of them. All of that with only 13 1/2K.

I've had my car since November and my front bumper, hood, and side view mirrors are peppered with rock chips. The bumper is by far the worst. I was hoping to wait until spring to get a clear bra, but now it's hopeless. I would have to get my whole front end repainted first. My advice to any new G35 owner is to IMMEDIATELY get a clear bra installed. Drive directly from the dealership to the installer. It's all the damn construction vehicles in this area (Northern VA). If any one reading this drives a dump truck for a living- I HOPE YOU DIE!!!!!

got them on my hood front bumper looks disgusting, im even seeing them on the front of the rear rear fender flares. i have black and it looks horrible. i got 37000 miles and had it since nov 2002. trust me, it only gets worse.

So far the Clear Bra has protected the hood but I have some above the Clear Bra. Really brittle paint. I have red and the chips show as white.
