can I smooth this out or should I take it to a pro

A little while ago, I was backing out of my spot in the garage and I stupidly turned too soon. here's the result:

Yes, I know she's dirty. Is it possible for me to get behind there and smooth it out myself or should I just take it to a shop and get it fixed? Also the bumper is off by about a 1/4 inch as a result.

it's on a bad spot. body shops generally have tough times reworking creases. they will probably suggest a new fender. either way, there will be paint work involved.

My wife (really, it was not me) did the same thing with our minivan. Since I didn't really care if I screwed it up, I tried to do what you suggest. Didn't work. Don't try. Good luck.

Dont look bad.....maybe 2 hours repair plus 4 or 5 hours paint time to repaint fender and blend in the bumper. A little more if you remove the bumper.

7 to 9 hours times hourly labor rate plus paint cost.... give or take an hour. JMO

talk to a PDR guy first if you can live with the paint damage, they should be able to get out 99% of that

i would say 85% at best with PDR. those fender line damages are very
difficult to fix.

but then im kind of a perfectionist and my 85% might be their 99% lol

that is an easy fix...take it from a guy who owned a bodyshop for 5 years. to fix the fender and whatever else happened to pull it off the bumper will be $900-$1100 at a decent facilty. the paint will have to be blended into the bumper since the damage is so close. don't work on it yourself, you'll only make it worse.

edit: if the shop doesn't find it necessary to blend into the bumper, $550-$650.

I wouldn't even try it yourself.

I'd at least check with a reputable PDR guy. A good one will tell you how close he thinks he can get it. Then you can decide to let him work it, or just take it to a shop.

I've got one in the SLC area that I consider to be quite talented, if anyone ever needs a number.

You have that backwards. Thinking of a good tech though.

Sounded steep to me. I went back and looked at the picture again. I wouldn't have guessed more than $180 tops. But different parts of the country do have different rates.
