just had the g35x tinted...at night car lights in the back window seem to reflect off the defrost lines...is this a bad job or the angle of the rear window.....gene
Edited by GeneX on 05/11/04 05:31 AM.

Re: tinting question rear window

That's normal. As time goes by, two things will occur:
1. The moisture under the tint will dry and the tint will bond closer to the glass, this causes the distortion you're seeing to minimize substantially; unfortunately it never disappears completely.
2. You get acustomed to the slight distortion so quickly that you'll forget that it was there in the first place.

Re: tinting question rear window

chinee is right on the spot. Defroster lines are layed onto the glass, which then pushes the tint up causing light refraction. This glare effect is most noticeable at night. However, I've seen in some cases where it's just horribly bad because of installation methods. In these cases a lot of water was still trapped between the film and the glass, which compounds the refraction when headlights shine at it from the rear.

I'm not sure what you mean by "wrinkles".....if it's exactly what you say it is, then it's actually a crease........film somehow got damaged during the installation process.

As far as the light refractions, this is normal, but shouldn't be excessive. If it becomes a problem seeing at night, then most likely, they didn't do a good job of squeegeeing the water out.

Re: tinting question rear window

Just had my Coupe tinted last Saturday with 35% Llumar Platinum Plus. The installer here in Orlando was recommended by a forum member. This installer was nothing short of perfection. No bubbles and took the tint right over the dot matrix with no problem. He spent 4 hours installing it like it was his own. Now I know why he does high-end vehicles in the Orlando area. Absolutely awesome!

XIMER

I just saw your request, but I won't be able to post them until I get home from work tonight.

I've been using Irfanview for the first time to resize the pictures and I'm still learning how to use it.

Stay tuned and I'll try to resize them tonight to make larger.

Another resized pic.

This tint was carried all the way up over the dot matrix. It looks perfect!
