someone keyed my car from front passenger side fender to rear quarterpanel. long thin white scratch is visible. will the detailer be able to get this out? should i take it to the body shop or dealer? how much would it generally cost?
i usually put my car in the garage, but last night i happened to come home late and parked on street. this is exactly what i was afraid of. i'm not too upset about it, but the car's still pretty much new(1200miles), trying to fix this somehow. thanks for any input.

dealer or get it detailed at a car wash, expensive though. you could get a regular wash and see if you can get any of them to do a quick touch-up. Or, color it in with permanent marker, i think they have special car paint pens.

It really depends how deep the is the line. Take it to a well-known detailer and have them look @ it. If it's as you say it is, I'd be charging $130-$170 to remove the scratch. Be aware that key marks generally leave a pretty deep imprint on the paint, which means two things:
a) polishing necessary, but sufficient
b) wet-sanding and polishing necessary
wet-sanding will remove the upper layer of the clearcoat......probe the detailer to see how much he/she knows.
