I'll admit, my interest in detailing my car is on and off. But I recently became re-interested in detailing and I really did a number on my interior. I have two small kids (age 6 and 2), and I haven't cleaned my car in a long time. So as you can imagine it was pretty disgusting inside.
Here's the before pics.

I vacuumed, I used a Bissel spot bot on any particularly bad areas, and I used scotch guard to protect the carpet once it was clean. I used Mother's Reflections Leather Care on the seats. It's a cleaner and conditioner in one, and it seems to work pretty well. I also used Mother's interior protectant on the plastic, vinyl, and dashboard. I haven't tried 303, but all of the descriptions and pictures that I've seen measure up pretty well to the Mother's stuff. It leaves a very clean, not very shiny, finish. I love the stuff! I also pulled my winter floor mats out and gave them a good clean. I used an APC and a wash brush, then used Armor All Tire Foam. A final wipedown with a clean MF towel leaves them looking AWESOME!
Here are the results.

yeah it was kind of a mess for a while there.
But I gave up on maintaining the "pristine" interior a while ago. I have a two year old and a 6 year old, and there is just no way the car is not getting dirty.
Anyone with kids can sympathize. Their shoes are somehow ALWAYS full of sand. Their hands are constantly sticky. And they will inevitably find occassion to eat in the car. There is just no avoiding it.
But, if I'm being honest, when it comes to detailing, I much prefer the "restorations" rather than maintenance. I get more joy and more satisfaction by taking a car that is absolutely trashed and bringing back the "new car" feel.
And by the way, applying Scotch Guard to your carpets and fabric goes A LONG WAY in making cleanups like these easier. The rubber floormats are also a huge plus.

I just use a clean and dry microfiber to wipe up any loose dirt and dust on the headliner. If there is any spot that requires a bit more attention, then I VERY LIGHTLY spritz an MF towel with upholstery cleaner and gently wipe the area. I then go over it one more time with a dry microfiber to remove as much dampness as possible.
