I had some body work done on my car - driver side door had some scratched and they painted it. Now the areas they did not paint seems to be rough to touch. I cannot figure out if is just perhaps wax which became this way after baking or did they overspray the paint? My car is white and I do not see any other color.

Should I take it back to the body shop? Have someone else look at it? Or will it go away after a few waxing sessions. It still seems to be nice and shiny and I cannot make out the difference between the old paint and the new paint.

Your advice is much appreciated.

Most likely its overspray....probably clear coat from your touched up area....
Try using the clay bar method.....if its overspray it should come off pretty quickly....if it doesn't you may have to polish the areas affected and re-wax your car....
Either way it shouldn't be a big deal...just take your time and get it done right the first time out.....

Well, tookl the car to the shop and the paint guy said it was just dirt which got wet and then got baked as the car was sitting outside in the heat. As you suggested, he said a good buffing should take care of it.

I am thinking of getting 3m cleaner wax and then using my orbital buffer. Is that ok? Other waxes?

i would try clay barring the paint. not the freshly painted areas though. the first time i did it, i clay barred half of my hood and ran my finger over the clay barred side and then the unclayed side. it was like glass compared to sand paper.
