thought i was using Mothers but i actually am using a Meguiar's product works on all metal surfaces

mine usually just get black/dirty on the bottom of the lip. Easiest/quickest solution if youre just doing a quick cleaning of the car is to use a kitchen sponge on it (rough side, but not the metal one). Most exhausts already have a slightly brushed finish so it works.

I suggest people clean them with a quick detailer (NO WAX) first. Then let them dry, Leave the mothers on for about 30 minutes, then use a microfiber rag and really polish it deep. then wipe it down softly with a clean microfiber or a screen cloth (for laptop screens)

I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned you can also use steel wool 0000 grit, paired with your favorite metal polished, I use Autosol metal polished for my exaust, follow by some Menzerna 85rd polish compound on a polishing pad, follow by either klassen or duragloss sealer, my exhaust always looks shiny and clean, no carbon build up and is low maintanence.

so will mothers mag & Aluminium Polish work on the stock muffler to make it shine like aftermarket?

Uh....no. The muffler/tips need to have been polished and the OEM muffler wasn't.
On polished parts like aftermarket mufflers and tips, I've had really good luck with Eagle One NevR Dull polish wadding. Once I get it applied and wiped off.....I'll spray on a thick coat of Pledge Furniture polish. The Pledge has a UV protectant in it that also keeps the aluminum/titanium from oxidizing so quickly.....plus it smells Lemon Fresh!
