How to get plastic black again
How to get plastic black again
My wife's car has some black plastic on her rear bumper and running boards on her Sequoia. We live in Texas and sun has taken its toll on the plastic. It looks oxidized or sun burned...basically not dark black. What is a good product to wipe on the plastic to return it to black? I wiped on 403 protectant and it looked great until the following day.

If you want to dye it, you can use Leatherique Trim Restorer or something along those lines, although since it is dye you have to be careful while applying it.
After, to prevent more fading, I would use Aerospace 303. I would give the dye a couple days before applying the 303, then apply the 303 about every 3 weeks or so to keep the trim looking brand new.

There is a thread in the autogeek forum that compares several of the trim restorers. Black Again was the winner so I bought a bottle. Used it on my wifes Explorer that has a lot of plastic trim in horrible shape. I was amazed at the result.
I actually bought the Mothers product, but it was too cold for me to go wash the cars so I never used it. Based on what I read online about the Black Again product, I think I will bring back the Mothers stuff and by Black Again. I just need to find a store that carries instead of buying online with shipping.
Thanks

I've tried for years to remove wax residue and fading from our explorer. Black Again made it look new with ease. Used it on a couple other cars and I just can't believe how well it works. Just make sure you wipe off the residue because it will run if it rains.
