Experience with / speed with M105 and UDM?

I had my hood repainted last August, and now that it's warm again, I'm anxious to get the swirls out as well as spot touchup a few "mishaps". Was prepared to grind through with SIP and Orange pad, but hearing how this M105 cuts fast, finishes well, and cures cancer, I'm thinking about giving it a shot.

However, I've heard bad things about it flashing very quickly (and not dusting), and a worse things about using the UDM, PC, Flex with it. Does anyone have some guidance on using it with our paint? I tend to move fairly slowly in my passes... should i risk the trails/holograms and speed it up a bit to reduce risk of grinding through the clear with this stuff?

I've been playing around with a new process we call the Kevin Brown Method KBM. It involves an orange pad, M105 and your PC or UDM in your case. Do you have the newer M105 that is RO approved? It will have 3 pictures on the back of the bottle. By hand, by rotary and by RO.

The KBM is a bit involved, but Kevin is working on a "paper" to explain it.

I did a full correction on this car using the KBM.

Just ordered the 105 and 205 yesterday, hope it's the new one

I googled around on the KBM and got a few hits to check out, but do you know where he's going to post that tutorial?

Theres no science to applying 105, 205 or anything else. Some products have different working times i.e. optimum polish, meguiars or 3m. I helped a buddy take out some light swirls with his PC and the 105. you just apply it and work it til the product where you can wipe your finger across and when it doesnt smear you can remove it. I dont see why the 105 would flash quickly if they specifically made it RO approved. Just work it in the paint & when its ready to be removed you can tell.

i just read on autopia about the kb method. it seems like with the 105 you can work it, and work it, and work it.

hmmmm...

The original m105 had about a 20 second work time before it flashed.

Got the old formula I will be calling Autogeek tomorrow to return it. To their credit, it doesn't mention DA in the description and I must have glossed over it.

Trying to hunt up another 32 oz bottle of the stuff, but for now have ordered a sampler bottle from ADS. Hoping it makes it by Fri., no overnight shipping option available Anyone have a place to get the new formula with overnight shipping?

Well I've got to hand it to the autogeek folks. Gave em a call, and they're shipping me out a bottle of the new formula. Fantastic customer service. They didn't want the old formula back, so if there's anyone local to CHS that has a rotary, and can make use of a 32oz bottle of m105, let me know and it's yours.

Again, to the autogeek folks

I know you have your heart set on m105, but you should try Ultimate Compound. It is Meg's consumer version of M105, but formulated for the DA. You can get it locally at Wal-Mart or any auto store for less than $10. I have tried it with my black G35, and I have to say, it is the best polish I have ever used (and I have used a few). It lets you work for a long time, but you don't have to work for a long time. I removed all swirls off of my car with one application per section, doing 2 passes with pretty heavy pressure and 2 more passes with lighter pressure. All in all less than 2 minutes per application/section. The final result was very impressive. The beauty of it is that unlike past polishes, the abrasives don't have to break down to get a final finish. Instead, just work it until you want to stop and check to see if you have removed your marring. It is so easy and with excellent results.
