15 mins is a bit much. i just turn mine off 2-3 mins before arriving (if I'm using the AC which is almost never here) then just open up the vent. all the ducts & vents are still cold from the AC so you shouldn't see the temp shoot up too much in just a minute or 3

also if anyone changes the filter and still has the smell try cleaning the evaporator core. Someone told me mildew also builds up in there.

If you use your AC turn it off 15 mins before arriving to your destination. helps dry the moisture on the core
I tried another way to get rid of the smell now its 95% gone...I left my car in the garage for an hour with windows and sunroof closed. HEATER on 90 degrees at full blast! After the hour was up, I went back to the garage and opened the doors, It stunk really bad. I sprayed a full can of Lysol into all the vents took about 5 minutes to empty the bottle...This helped alot! ..Left it running for another 20 minutes and the smell was gone!

Filter is 3 months old. About 3,500 miles since installed...The problem that i found was mildew in the vents as well not just a smell from the filter(FOUND BY A dealer tech), he told me to spray it down and it worked!!
