Detail help needed!!!!

I've been trying to research how i can get these tanned leather seats cleaned.

303 aerospace is not working

I am always around Architects / Designers so my clothes get a tad dirty at times, thus creating such darkness on my seats.

Can someone please help me out.

1. What product could i use to get the dark spots out?
2. How can i prevent this from happening in a later time.

303 Aerospace is not a cleaner, that's why it's not working. It does have light cleaners, but it is mainly a protectant.

Either get some Leather Master's strong cleaner and vital conditioner or if you want to buy it locally, get Lexol. With Lexol the applicator you are using should be pretty wet, and you will probably need repeat applications and a couple clean pads.

+1 for leatherique or leather masters. Or if you want a two in one you can try Poorboys Leather Stuff.

Cheers,
Nick

Wow @ leatherique...

Do Lexol, leather masters, or Poorboys leather stuff have the same affect?

Meguairs APC works good at a 10:1 ratio and a nail brush. Then wipe down with warm water to remove any residue and last put on a layer of 303 aerospace protectant.

Update?

I just bought my G35 not too long ago and the previous owner didn't treat the seats at all as far as I can tell.

So I'm really curious if you have any updated pics after treatment.

I've read a lot on the care of our leather on here and Autopia but not so many "real world" results.

the detail shop i used to work out used a watered down degreaser to clean seats, and i mean like 5 parts water to 2 degreaser to clean up seats. It worked extremely well on fabric and leather, particularly on leather as long as it wasn't the cheap kind (which one time color-faded quickly). I'm not sure what kind of long term damage it could do, but seats look brand new afterwards. Just try it in an inconspicuous spot to check for fade, if none, go to town, it works on ABS plastic real well too....

+1, I'm looking for real user results. Like you, my seats were never maintained by the previous owner.

I might have to bite and try this out...

Prevention is far better than correction
Leather that has become cracked from inadequate or inappropriate care usually cannot be restored to its original state by most available products / methods (although the covering can be removed by sanding and re-applied) It is highly recommended that you fully clean, hydrate and protect auto interiors leather upholstery surfaces 3-4 times per year. It is much easier to practice prevention than it is to correct major problems after the fact

The keys to leather care are keeping leather;

(a) Hydrated - use water-based products and clean surfaces with a damp towel

(b) Clean - as dirt / grit and subsequent friction cause the finish to wear.

(c) Protected - is essential as it will protect the surface finish and makes dirt easier to clean off and an ultra violet protective product (UVR) will preserve the finish.

Gone are the days of 'unfinished' natural upholstery automotive leather that required owners to constantly condition the leather with natural oils. Today, many leather producers (95% + of modern automobiles) treat leather in a variety of colours and textures with a clear polyethylene protection to prevent cracking and drying. It is made softer and more flexible by the addition of plasticizers, the most widely-used being phthalates. In this form, it is used in vehicle upholstery and trim

For many, finding the best leather care product is as simple as using what is the most popular. While popularity can sometimes be a reliable barometer, it isn’t always the correct choice. Some even make their decision based on new car’s leather fragrance alone. My best advise; research other options and products, test them and then make an objective decision based upon factual information, not hype or brand loyalty.

After all, how can you fully understand and properly use any product unless you have all the facts? I would also strongly suggest that you verify any information that I or anyone else shares with you.
