What pads for porter Cable

Looking at this kit on Eshine.ca that comes with the porter cable, backing plate and selection of 3 pads.

Which ones should I go with? I know it depends on what I want to do but what 3 are the most versatile? Thinking yellow blue and white?

Also how long will one of these pads last, how many times can I wash it and reuse it before it falls apart?

Thanks.

Think I went with orange, yellow and white. Depends what kind of shape your paint is in. Heavy swirls? More aggressive pads (and product).

it says your choice of CCS pads so i would go with

orange (light cut), white(polish) and blue(finess) .. yellow is a lil too aggressive

it really depends on what polish and compound you use, how bad your swirls are

i think you should get by .. my 04 coupe clear is pretty soft and cleared up very nicely

pads will last a few FULL car polish's .. there is no exact time when they will fall apart .. so far ive gotten 3-4 full car polish's out of my pads .. and they are cheap enough to buy more .. i have so many pads and i dont know what to do with them

I use a different brand of pad, but I'm on maybe 6 full car polishes and they seem fine. I like flat pads better, CCS pads make no sense to me.

I would go with Orange, white, and blue. We have relatively soft clear coats, and if you need more cut you can always order yellow. I did this car with the equivalent of orange and white, but it was via rotary. It was about 85-90% correction, I wasn't going for 100.

I may have gotten orange and yellow mixed up :s I am pretty sure I am going with Orange, white and either black or blue, maybe I'll get more than one finishing one and see how it works as well.

Thanks for the tips guys, I am going to do this order soon hopefully!

I might have a job at a Subaru dealer cleaning up cars when they come in on wholesale and what not so I am hoping I will be able to carry everything I have learned on my G to that job

You'll use a lot of white pads for sure In my opinion the infiniti's and nissans that I have worked on have hard clears, you'll be using white pads for your one step polish and an orange and white for a two or more step polish process. It will take you longer to accomplish a good polish but it will be worth it in the end.

blue is awesome because it can also double up as an applicator

Hope that helps 4DGS and Good luck !

Also, make sure you get at least two of each pad. It's not recommended that you use the same pad for your entire vehicle.

I use 4" and 5" pads exclusively with the PC now. The PC just doesn't have enough power to properly break down polishes using 6"+ pads in a reasonable amount of time. As far as brand, I use LC and cyclo 4" pads, and Danase 5" CCS pads.

Hai, have you tried using a Flex yet? IMO, it's a far superior machine over the PC.

That is what I keep hearing, but my detailing has dropped off significantly this year due to new hobbies, so I can't justify the investment. I am well aware of the deficiencies in the PC already though, when it takes 10+ hours to do a decent polish job on a single car, even with the smaller pads

Thanks for that manual G that is helpful!

Nikku, I'm sending you a PM.

Thanks for everyone elses advice as well.

I polished my passenger side yesterday (previous owner liked to park in bushes I guess?) And it had lots of really light scratches and what not. I used my $30 Simoniz battery powered polisher and it worked half decent. Can only imagine the better results with the PC.

Unfortunately didn't take before pics because I was skeptical it would even work haha. going to do the other side soon though so I'll get pics of that.
