Car covers

Ok... So my driveway is under a pretty huge maple tree, drapes over my whole driveway. Everyday I get up and find my car covered in a light coat of sap. Comes of very easily thanks to a nice wax job but I am sick of clean it every 2 or 3 days. Green is hard enough to keep clean as it is. I have been parking over in my neighbors driveway just to keep it clean for a few days at a time.

I am going to get a car cover to keep the junk off my car, does anyone have recommendations on what to buy? There are all the ebay ones (see links at bottom) but I am afraid they will demolish my paint. Anyone have experience with them? are they worth it?

Any tip are appreciated!

I know they arent cheap but i would go with an Infiniti cover. Keeps most of the moisture on the outside and they have thicker/tougher material by the exhaust tips so they dont burn a hole in the material. And they have clear plastic where your rear license plate is located. And not to mention it will fit your car perfectly!!

That does sound pretty good. I'll get a quote from riverside as well as my local infiniti dealer. Might be cheaper here because I don't have to worry about shipping.

Anyone know what the infiniti one is worth?

Kind of off topic, but are you able to build some sort of canopy? Just because car covers, although they will stop the sap, will add a different group of problems. If you are taking off and on a cover, especially on a daily driver outside, you will add swirls to your car. If its a possibility, I would do some sort of cheap canopy or carport kind of deal instead.

As far as I am concerned the Covercraft Noah car cover is the best. I had one for my 07 Sedan and now I am ordering one for my 09 FX35. The are made custom fit for each model.
Here is a thread when I was looking for one before:https://g35driver.com/forums/canada/237854-great-white-north-car-cover.html
Those other covers (such as the Infiniti OEM cover) are poor excuses for an indoor dust cover, this is made for the outdoors and is quality.

TOO bad your car is not a 2nd Gen cause my cover is for sale since my sedan is gone.

I have heard horror stories of the canopies flipping over and smashing windshields Even heavily anchored ones are prone to disaster. I am not to worried about swirls as I detail it when ever I'm board, it is one reason I have been somewhat reluctant though.

Not sure I'd trust costco

Want to avoid crappy tire because I would prefer a custom fit, so I'll leave that as a last option.

Gee35fx, lots of good info in there. May I ask what supplier you ended up buying it from?

I googled Covercraft Noah and came up with a site like this :http://www.carcoversdirect.com/products/car_truck_covers/?gclid=CO-YntaKg5sCFSAhDQodsxKBeQ Ithen looked up the Part # for the custom fit Noah cover for my car. Then I just gave the part # to my local shop in Kincardine and got them to order it for me.
I will be doing the same thing next week for a Noah cover for my FX.

I have the OEM cover and I'm not very happy with it. Sure, it's a perfect fit, it has the clear plastic cover in the back to show the license plate, and across the windshield there's a big INFINITI logo.
But, in my opinion, it's very cheaply made. It's not very thick, it's not plush on the inside, and I feel like the material isn't very paint safe and would probably lightly scratch your paint.
I'd go with a reputable car cover that protects from the elements, mold resistant, moisture resistant, UV protection, and a decent plush under layer.

no car cover is safe on paint unless you only use it on a car that is freshly washed

^ Relude's right.
Even if the car cover's the highest quality and has a plush underside... if the car's dirty and you place the car cover on top of it, it'll rub whatever debris you have on your car into your clear coat and risks scratching your finish.
