About that treatment, just wax your car yourself. Basically what the treatments are are just applying a sealant, which takes 20 minutes, then coming back 6 months later and reapplying it. With ridiculous prices of course. If you want a good wax that will last a very long time, go with Collinite 915. Looks very good, has a nice glow, and lasts a very long time. Clay before you apply. I'll post up a link to a car I did with it.

I got my Sheepskin mitt from DetailedImage.com, make sure you throughly rinse it out before you air-dry it. Got my Grit-guard from there too. Your washing sounds pretty down pat, add clay (only use every 6 months or more) and wax and your car will look amazing.

LOL thanks guys! I'll just do it myself. Got any vids on how to clay and wax? That car washing video was extremely helpful. Kinda felt bad for the guy with the prosthetic leg though

Claying is very simple. Just spray quick detailer liberally onto the paint, and then use the clay with little to no pressure and just glide it across the paint until it is clean. You will know when it is done, you can hear and feel the contamination coming off. Then wipe off the quick detailer with a microfiber. I like Clay Magic Blue, available at Autozone for about 10 dollars.

Waxing is pretty simple too. Use a foam applicator, swipe across the wax a couple times in the jar, and apply it THINLY too the paint. It should be BARELY visible. Leave it for about 10 minutes and then buff off with a microfiber towel. Easy. The best way to learn is experience. Keep wax off of trim. I looked at some videos for waxing, they are all ****. It's an easy process, just follow what I said.

And to your quick detailer question a couple posts back, you can just spray and wipe off with a microfiber on a slightly dirty car, or use it as a drying aid by just spraying immediately before you dry the spot. The idea behind this is that it will clean off any minerals from the water that have already started to form water spots. I usually don't do this because I already have relatively soft water in my area.

Ask anymore questions you want, I'm glad to help

First of all, thank you for taking the time to answer all my newbie questions. I really appreciate it. If it weren't for forums like these, my G35 Coupe would be going through a drive-thru wash right now

Just a couple more questions.

So that "sealant" service lasts for 6 months? I read on here that sealant gives the car more of a "glossy" look as opposed to wax, which is exactly what I'm looking for. So if I were to get the sealant put on, I wouldn't have to wax my car for 6 months? All I would have to do to maintain is wash? Would I still have to clay?

I'm thinking about getting that sealant put on my car when I get my windows tinted, if he gives me a good price

I want to wash, quick detail spray, and clay today as well as clean my interior. I don't know if I will have enough time today to wax as well though. Is that okay? I keep reading on here that a full detail typically takes 5 hours to as long as 12 hours

No problem, I know that when I first started detailing I had thousands of questions. First off, to the 2 guys above, I like Microfiber Waffle Weaves over Shammys, but that is just personal opinion I guess. I wouldn't trust a shammy on soft paint.

A sealant isn't anything special, just to clarify that. They are available, generally online, and basically it is a synthetic wax. It has a different look to it, and does not have the carnauba glow, since it has no carnauba in it. Sealants generally last about 4-8 months, and wax anywhere from about 1-7 months, depending on the wax. Collinite 915, the one I used on the Jeep, is the longest last one and goes for about 6 months. Sealants are applied exactly the same way as wax, nothing special to it. I prefer wax to darker colors, and sealants for lighter colors. Like it's been said, all they are doing is charging a ridiculous amount to wax the car because most people don't know any better. We as detailers do.

Quick Detailer is basically a light cleaner for your paint that will not strip your LSP(Last step protection, i.e. wax.). Like say you wash your car, and then it rains, and the next you come out to water spots and tiny bit of dirt on your car. Just use quick detailer and a couple microfibers to get if off. If the car is pretty dirty, you have to wash it instead of QDing it. You don't have to QD a car after you wash since it's clean, unless you are using it as a drying aid because you have hard water.

Claying should only be done once every 6 months or more(7,8,9 months and so on), and it will remove your LSP.

Good luck
