9 hour detail!
Re: 9 hour detail!
It took me about that long to do my first application of Zaino as well. I did one coat of Z5 and 2 of Z2, each with Z6 in between. The reason it took me so long, which I found out later, was that I was putting it on too heavy. I also think I got a bad batch of Zaino. After the initial heavy cleaning, I would just give it another coat every other week or so until I built it up to where I wanted it. It takes me about 45 minutes to wash and dry the car including the wheels n tries.

Man, even when I was super picky about my cars, I never spent 9 hours, back in the days when metallic paint wasn't clearcoated and oxidized, and was hard to wax and polish, I may have come close, but not since CC came into existance for sure! You must be very patient as well blksnake! BTW, why that name?

Well at lunch today I parked next to a giant black s-class benz at lunch today who needed one of your 9 hour detail jobs. It was black or should I say swirl mark colored, it was that bad! At first I tought it was just dirty, but when I got close it looked like it was just washed, not dusty at all, just looked all scratched to hell!

I had a customer who had a black A4 w/ deep swirl marks. He got them from trying to remove oxidation w/ a low-grit steel wool! It really defeated the purpose...........wish I took some pics before I worked on the car.

STEEL WOOL??????
OMG!
I can't even imagine why somebody would think to use steel wool on the paint.... I guess it might be possible but I don't think I could bring myself to do it...
Actually I say kudos to you for getting the makes out!!!

Re: 9 hour detail!
I didn't really want to take the job, but he was a good customer..............took me 3hrs to buff and polish out most of the swirls. Had to wet sand certain areas and that was a total @#&#*&! Very exhausting, but in the end the result made it all worth it.......phew, I'm tired now just thinking about it!

Not only do I have a nice clean car, but I got a tan as well!
Steel wool, eh? Must have been a leased car...

wil, May I ask you a question? I have something on my front left rim that I cannot remove no matter how much I scrub. It's like a stain of some sort. When I took my car in for service, they told me it looked like break dust that has settled. Any help will be appreciated.

Re: 9 hour detail!
As far as the Brake dust stain, just put a small dab of degreaser on a sponge, wipe down and rinse well. Don't let the stuff dry on your rim because it will etch and harm the rim. It should come right off.
I use formula 88, real strong stuff.
I am strongly against using this for the whole rim, it will damage the rim. Just use it for tough spots applied to the sponge, with a hose close by.

Re: 9 hour detail!
I really can't tell you what it is or what to do unless I see it. It is possible to be brake dust as our Gs stock pads dust like crazy..........the wheels get fairly hot when driving for an extended period w/o having the wheels cleaned.....it could be baked on. Just take a look at some of the previous gen M3s' wheels. They were notorious to have the brake dust baked onto their wheels.

Re: 9 hour detail!
BlckMgk - I'll try your suggestion and tell you how it goes.
wil - I hope it's not permanent. I spend a great deal of time cleaning my rims and I would feel it was all in vain...
I'll keep ya'll updated.
