my exhaust tips are very dirty and black and look as though fire just came out of them and i cant get them back to shiny with the car wash and polishers you guys recommend?

 

i would not suggest a cleaner but a chrome polish for the tips (if they are chromed).

 

I have personally used P21S polishing soap. On my G they Tips were not too bad just wanted to give them a better shine, however I have also used them on my girls RSX. The exhaust tips on her car and the exhaust in general was really getting rusty and dirty. Spend some time cleaning them up with polish and now they look good as new. Highly recommend the product.

 

On the outsides of the tips I've had great luck using Turtle Chrome Polish on a microfiber applicator pad. A few passes with it & it removed rust & other staining. For the insides, you might try the same. You could also check some of the threads where detailers have shown photos of their various jobs, and some have shown what they've done there. I've seen some use fine gauge steel wool & various products.

 

The P21S Polishing Soap is a great product, it really helps bring back the gloss on faded metal surfaces. My one advice with the product is to make sure you keep the applicator pad clean to minimize pushing the dirt and contamination around the surface to minimize adding any swirls or scratches.
