Detail cleaning after waxing
Detail cleaning after waxing
I'm pretty careful while waxing, but inevitably there are a few spots that need to be touched up after I finish waxing. I'm talking about all the gaps between metal and especially around the plastic strip across the doors.
I've always wound up using something with a small blade, maybe a small screwdriver wrapped in a cotton cloth and VERY carefully tracing around the area to be cleaned.
Anyone have any better methods that cut down on the risk of scratching if you're not careful enough? I'm curious if there are any detailing tools dedicated to this sort of thing.

Re: Detail cleaning after waxing
Go to you local auto supply place (or WalMart) and get a detailing brush. They usually have a small rubber 'tooth' on the other end to get into nooks and crannies. I use this to get any wax out of cracks and then wrap it with a microfiber towel to clean the area up. It works great and is very cheap and safe.

You know, I thought about that. Not a detail brush really, but kinda a dental instrument like a rubber pick. I saw the brushes at stores but not the pick-like instrument. Didn't look close enough to see the other end might have the pick on it. Thanks for the tip!

Re: Detail cleaning after waxing
I use various width paintbrushes with bristles cut to about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. And I duct tape over paintbrush metal to prevent scratching car. Finally, I use polish/wax like Klasse AIO and Pinnacle Souveran that go on/come off very easily.

I have a small detail brush which works great for this, also I have some microfiber detail gloves, these things are great for that, as well as many other things!
