02 MB C230 Kompressor: Some quick practice

Well, seeing as how we had a brief window of sunshine open this weekend, I decided to get familiar with my PC random orbital buffer and Megs 105/205. Buddy of mine offered his Mercedes to me to do so. Tried to crunch in what I could in a few short hours while getting the feel of the polishes.

After Wash:

Swirls

More swirls

Um, yeah. No bueno.

yeah, no.

Taping

Clean on the left side, Swirls on the right side! I-I-Ice cream paint job! lol First pass with Megs 105.

It's getting there:

Hood after one run of 105.

And the final product:

Did what I could with the time I had and the owner understood and was pleased with the results. Enjoy!

Quite the turn around, especially being crunched for time! Excellent work.

What did you think of the Meguiar's polishes?

Thanks!

Seeing as how this was my very first time ever using a cutting and polishing compound, I found the Meguiar's polishes were very easy to work with and forgiving. I'm still trying to get a feel of what the breakdown period is, but I'll get there with some more practices in. The vehicle's owner and I were very pleased with the results that the polishes produced. Overall, I feel that the M105/M205 is a great introductory combo for those that are getting into polishing or detailing in general.

Great results with only 105.

Indeed. However, the final results had the 105 topped with 205, then Poorboy's World EX-P sealant, and finally Poorboy's World Natty paste wax.

... late to the thread but a quick question. I am planning to work on my G the next couple evenings. I am planning on using Poorboy's World Natty paste wax as well, but I was looking for direction on how to & how much to apply if I plan to use a random orbital ... With liquid products I know it's 2-3 pea sized globs ... what's the approach with a paste wax? On to the pad, on to the car?

Thanks in advance

Just do it by hand if it's paste wax. You'll probably end up using more by machine.
