Found A Great Way To Debadge
Found A Great Way To Debadge
Hey guys, I just took the Mt. Fuji off the back of my car today and debadged my friends Acura and after trying many different methods I finally found one that works really well.
1. Get some Goo Gone and spray all the emblems so that it soaks in underneath it.
2. Get a credit card type card, I used a hotel key, anything that is plastic and is thick enough will work.
3. Get a blowdryer and heat up the emblem for about 20 seconds (longer if it's a cold day)
4. Stick the card underneath one side of the emblem (Be careful to not put it under the glue but just under the emblem, you don't want to scratch your paint)
5. Push the card through slowly while applying heat to the area that you are pushing the card through (The emblem will pop right off with no residue on the back of the emblem)
6. You will have a Mt. Fuji symbol made of that tacky sticky stuff on the back of your car now, respray it with goo gone and apply heat to it, peel it off, use a fingernail or something like that just make sure not to apply too much pressure (you won't need much pressure with the good gone and the heat)
7. If there is still residue left just spray more goo gone and apply more heat and do the same thing (had to repeat this step about 4 times but I have a 2003 so it was stuck on there pretty good)
8. Spray goo gone and wipe the area with a sponge (not rough side) using alot of pressure to get the outline of the emblem off.
That's all there is too it, here is a picture of my car with all the emblems off, I am gonna paint the emblem black and paint the valence the same color, I think it'll look really nice. Anyone else have any other methods of debadging? I tried the dental floss method but that only worked for the INFINITI letters.

I never thought about fishing line, thats a good idea, the floss isnt strong enough to pull through it.

Looks good and glad you figured it out on your own hopefully with no clearcoat scratches using:
