? about clear bra

I Just got a blk 04 g35 and was wondering if this estimate was too high for the plastic film and install $440-hood, and $556-for bumper, lights, and mirrors? This guy in orange county that has a film by 3m aerospace division, say's stuff is really clean and better than venture & 3m automotive film?
I was also wondering if it will be very visible on the hood since it's black?

Re: ? about clear bra

I would say that $440 just for the hood alone is too expensive [unless he is doing something like the entire hood, but even then that seems high]. I forgot exactly how much my install cost, but if I remember correctly it was around that price for the headlights, front bumper [and I paid a little more for that because I have the Nismo kit], first 1/4 of the hood, and the front face of the side mirrors.

I would recommend that you try giving Daniel Cook a call at Transparent Bra.com. He did my install [and other members here as well], and things worked out great for me [haven't heard any complaints from others either]. His number is: 310.613.4671

He uses the Venture Tape product. I do not know what the difference is between a 3m aerospace film vs. the 3m automotive film.

Which company quoted you this? (You could pm me if you're not comfortable w/ releasing this info on the net) I highly recommend EDL (Envisage Design Lab) and talk to either Edre or Baine........number's 866-335-3456. We were at SEMA together and he had a Carrera GT showcased there that he wrapped..............90% of the car's wrapped w/ paint protection film. This is a true testament to his expertise in the field. Give them a call and tell them Sam from Premier sent you.

Re: ? about clear bra

i've had my clearbra (3m film) for almost two years now and have had no problems with yellowing, bubbling, peeling, etc. now, what can the "aerospace" division do for the film that can be worth that much more?

and honestly, i installed the clearbra myself and found the hood to be the EASIEST part of the whole install. because of the difficulty of the bumper, i would now say get it professionally done. but with the hood, the material for the hood ( 3m ) probably adds up to about $50 max. i bought sheets of the 3m film and did the front hood myself and it cost me about $15 for a 4'x1.5' sheet. and note, i had ZERO experience with any type of film and did the hood myself with absolute ease.

it sounds like a rip-off to me....no matter what division of 3m it belongs to : )

Hey, Z2G what color is your coupe? I think the yellowing is usually seen in the IP color only. Did you do the side fenders also and was that difficult to do?

3M aero is a new film that is exclusive to one company - EDL. In my opinion, yes, the film is better than any on the market, but it is very expensive. It is generally the exotics that are getting this film installed. The guys over at EDL are great and very skilled at paint protection installations.
