anyone try converting a ryobi 6" random orbital sander to apply wax etc?

I have an inexpensive ryobi 6" random orbital sander, and just purchased a "Meguiar's W9006 6.5-Inch Soft Buff Foam Finishing Pad" from amazon. I am going to get some industrial strength velcro to attach it.

I read about this somewhere else, beats paying $$$ for a porter cable since I am just going to use this a couple times to buff out some swirls with meguiar's ultimate compound and apply some wax etc

thoughts?

Is it a rotary type? If so just get a backing plate.
