Its been about close to year since I last polished my car. The paint was in much better shape than a year ago when I had first tackled correcting it.

The introduction of Opti-Coat and Cquartz really caught my attention because my car has soft paint and black paint always shows everything. I was initially going to use Cquartz on my car but decided to use that for my wifes camry. Instead, I waited for the release of Opti-Coat 2.0.

I also want to mention that I was able to do the whole car with 10cc of Opti-Coat and found the application very easy. I used a buffing MF towel to remove any high spots.

Wash: CG citrus wash and clear (strip paint)
Decontaminate: Iron X
Clay: Mothers Clay and QD on a few panels
Polish: D300 with Meguiars MF Cutting Pad
Finish: PO85rd with LC gray pad (Thanks for the 85rd sample Rsurfer!)
LSP: Opti-Coat 2.0

I was surprised that using DI rinses, 2Bucket Method, and Sheepskin wash mitts still marred my paint from when I first polished my car. Here is a 50/50 pic to show that.

When you washed your car did you go panel by panel? If not you do risk swirling your car. And Anytime you touch the paint you will either A- Make it worse or B- Make it better. Washing will generally be A.

Yes, I went panel by panel, used a foam cannon with pressure washer for prewash, 2 bucket method with sheepskin wash mitts, DI rinses, and Waffle Weave blot drying. I did everything except for using a blower to dry. I recently bought a blower now that I have opti-coated my car and it makes drying much easier. Also, I just bought a Carpro wool wash mitt to hopefully help with marring.

However, I think now that I opti-coated my car, which makes the clear coat much harder, will hopefully avoid marring the paint.

I agree with you the less you touch your car the less you will marr. I am going to get a metro master blaster blower to make drying faster.

How does the Opti-Coat 2.0 do when it comes to gathering dust?

I still noticed it gathered dust but much less than when I used BlackFire Wet Diamond Sealant. Opti-Coat 2.0 also cleans much faster, dries faster, and washes faster, saving you time and energy.

Interesting your comparison with Blackfire Wet Diamond, which is what I've been using. BFWD seems to gather dust very quickly...

Yes, its not as slick as BFWD but it attracts much less dust. I live in a very windy area and BFWD immediately attracted dust.

Very nice work there. I just bought myself some Opti-Coat 2.0 Was it pretty easy to apply? I'm excited about using this coating because I've heard it can last up to a year. I've been using the BFWD in the past applying it at least every 3 months but waxing the cars just kills my back so I think this would be a perfect solution to having to wax the car less.

My last car was black so I know how hard it is to keep clean, good work.

Opti-Coat 2.0 will last more than 1 year. They say its permanent but their has not been any proof. The longest I've read reported is 4 years and still going. It is easy to apply. Just prime your pad and rub onto paint. You will see it flash pretty quick. If you notice any areas that have not flashed after 2 minutes, then wipe them lightly with a soft buffing MF. It was easier to apply than Cquartz.

Super nice work. +10 for the blower its so much easier for drying and gets the wheels and bolts really well. Now the swirls shouldn't be as bad and just so you know that's not too bad for 1 years worth of washes. Also, when you clean panel by panel do you wash vertically or horizontally?

Black cars are forever getting dirty but after all your hard work it looks amazing. Thanks for sharing the pics.
