What will take this off ? - Window Rubber

I tried doing a search but had bad results, so, I guess everyone else' window rubber is clean.

I just got my G coupe on Saturday. Got a great deal; partly in fact due to the car being so dirty (I don't think it ever spent the night in a garage until it came home with me). It's going to take me about a week or two to get the car up to "MY" standards. Now, onto my question. The window rubber, mainly around the rear window is pitted and nasty. What would someone recommend for cleaning those? Soap, water, and elbow grease? Or, is there some cleaner out there? When I went to the auto stores I saw tons of protectant, but no cleaner. Any recommendations?

Looks pretty bad. I'd try an isopropyl alcohol + water mix on it.

I used a stiff brush and some carwash on mine. Looked better, but not perfect.

Treat with gummi pfledge to improve appearance if you wish. The only way to get it really nice is a new one.

Hard to tell for the pic what it is exactly...Maybe try a little WD-40 on a rag and see if that pulls it off..Then clean that off with a good washing or the alcohol...Might work???????

I wouldn't use oils/alcohols since they would exacerbate any cracking issues. Just my two cents.
