Sunroof maintanence / Squeek?
I have been reading around. My sunroof seems to need some maintenance. I just bought the car a couple months ago. an 04 with 50,000 miles on it. I noticed that when I shut the moon roof when slid open, the last couple inches it sounds like rubber on rubber, like a rubbing sound. It also slows down a lot when that sound comes up. Also when I am driving and the cover is open, i hear some rattles, almost like the rubber on rubber sound.
From what I have read. Use lithium grease on metal parts, but not on rubber parts. Is it recommended, or not recommended to put a little oil, say wd40 or something, on the rubber seal to maybe let it slide a little better. I have a can of white lithium grease I used to lube my garage door runners. I know to avoid this getting on rubber. So I was thinking of cleaning tracks on moon roof. Then spraying that into a little Dixie cup and using a q-tip to rub that lube all over metal tracks of moon roof. What if any rubber lube should i use and where?
Is that white lithium grease the right stuff? I also have a tube of this black grease that I use to put in my lawnmower wheels and gears with a lube gun. Not sure what that is made of. Super thick black stuff
Any advise, greatly appreciated!

For the rubber part use spray silicone. You get that at home depot too. Spray it onto a rag and wipe the rubber weather striping. the rag will turn black from all the junk built up on the rubber. do this a couple of times and you will have a nice and clean rubber that will silde easily.
