What are these drip marks and how can I get rid of them?
Hey guys,
When I got the car the wheels had these strange drip marks that seem to be impregnated in the metal. Nothing I have tried has worked for removing it. I have tried all kinds of different cleaners.
Anyone have any ideas as to what caused this and/or how to fix it?
I thought about calling a wheel restoration place but I wanna make sure that that is my only option as that is much more expensive.
Thanks in advance.
It's not too noticeable from afar but I can't stand the way it looks up close.

The drips marks or staining on your painted OEM rims is due to a couple of things and is not repairable without having the rim physically refinished (repainted) and/or completely replaced. You have either left tire cleaner/tire dressing/road acids (such as salt, chemicals, etc.) or brake dust on the rims long enough for the topcoat finish to be stained through to the undercoat finish of paint. I know several folks would attest that they have had the same issue occur on their car. I had this occur on my original OEM rims within 6-8 months of owning the car. I see it so frequently on the OEM rims . There is no TSB or recall fix for this to my knowledge, however, if your car is still under warranty, it may be worthwhile to see if the dealership would be willing to repair/replace affected rim as a courtesy. If you do decide to have them refinished, your best option would be for them to either do both rims on the same side since the refinisher may have issues matching the color.

Thanks for the help guys. I think that what Austin said is right. The streaks/drips were on the car when I bought it thinking that I could clean them off when I got home. So the only option really is to refinish them. At the prices I have seen around here in Atlanta it looks like I could get a decent set of aftermarket wheel for not much more.
Thanks again for the help

You're probably going to have to get them painted. The same thing happened to mine from the previous owner never washing the car and I tried everything to get it off. I finally went to my last resort and sanded it which only made it worse. I had to paint them in my garage. Even though they're not factory new, they look pretty good and I will have to do more work on them in the spring. I wasn't happy when I found out the paint on the wheels was so thin and cheap that they were soiled and what you have looks exactly the same. I'm very disappointed in Infiniti for being so cheap.
