Debadging fail. this noob needs help.

First time G Owner. Very in love with this car and this forum. Unfortunately i tried this before i registered for this forum and i need help fixing it. I was reading the sticky on how to fix scratches and chipped paint.

I wanted to lie and say the guy before me did that, but I can't deny. lol. So my intention was actually to debadge, I got it out but had a really hard time taking out the adhesive even with a goo gone and a hair dryer. So then i was like, I'll put it back on, but first im going to spray the G35 with some paint remover because it was silver like the car to get to be chrome. Did that, and made a terrible mistake on trying to put it back on with white gorilla glue or whatever it's called. So i put it on and then took it off because I over glued and it would seep out on the outside. so i took it out and this is the result after scrubbing as much as I could off. The white stuff is the glue which I cant get off for the life of me.

I have a cousin who has his own business in auto detail and I'm waiting on a response from him to see if he can help me. I'm pretty much afrraid to wet sand it. I bought the automotive touch up paint from http://www.automotivetouchup.com that another member here tried and recommended. I bought the aerosal spray along with clear coat spray. Not sure really what to do.

ALSO. I couldnt get a picture of it to really show, but I bought this 03 sedan from this guy who bought it at an auction. But there is this HUGE ghosting on the top of the trunk. I forgot what it read but you can tell it was this big square sticker on it. How do i get rid of that. I think i just read somewhere that i need to wet sand it and then buff it out with rubbing compound? Is that all. It's barely noticable but at an angle in the sun light you can see it so clear. I'll try to find a way to get a picture of it if needed.

what grade grit should i use for both? I most likely am not going to do it myself. If my cousin knows how, I'm just going to have him teach me. I would like you guys input. Sorry for such a noob mistake.

Thanks again. I already learned so much from this forum. I ordered a double din kit already from grubbs. Learned how i want to lower it. Learned a lot of little tips and tricks and im hoping to learn more. Thanks.

That darker gray color is a bit concerning unless it's just the angle of the pic or something. Looks like a different color paint? If you have a repaint on the trunk lid, you're gonna run into problems with sanding if you go through the repaint. If it's not a different color, I'd say some 2000 grit wet/dry keeping it very wet will do the job nicely. KEEP IT WET. Then buff with some rubbing compound like you said (I like Meguiars). Polish it out with some scratch remover, then wax. Skip the wax and reglue sparingly with the glue if you want to put the emblem back on. Let the glue dry for a day, then wax.

You need foam molding tape to reattach the emblem DO NOT glue the emblem on!!!! What were you thinking?

You'd want to use the clay bar right. Make sure you have a detailing product along with clay bar. Worked wonders for me. GOOGONE

Reminds me of when I was 16 and had my blue VW passat. I debadged it with a flat head screw driver and goo gone. **** looked horrendous!!!!

What a "Clusterf^ck!"

Had you done a SEARCH on Debadging you would have discovered you need to saturate (meaning several applications) the area with GooGone or WD40 which ever you're using then you can just roll up the glue with your finger tips. Your major failure was using paint remover, what kind of results did you think you'd get? Only correct way to fix this now is to have your trunk lid repainted since I'm seeing chips/clear coat gone....

I used paint remover on the emblem. My failure was using glue to put it back on. I did not try anything yet. I did get all the glue off. Days and days of googone eventually got it off. So i guess i dibt need the clay bar.

I assumed I'd need to just repaint. I can't just use touch up paint I bought. I'm still pretty hesitant on wet sanding it. If that's what's needed to do.

Any instruction on how to fix this? I understand I did wrong and made several mistakes. Just looking for help. Thanks
.

I want to laugh... but at the same time I think it might be rude.

Is that rude?

.....

OK, I can't help it. I'm laughing.

having said that.. you probably shouldn't wet-sand your own car. I'm not trying to be mean here, but... let's be honest. You're not on a hot streak right now.

I have seen this before. My friend tried doing that to his mustang emblem and effed it up completely. he called me over to assist him on this problem. First we tried wet sanding and buffing and that took off a very large chunk off of it. Then we took some Turtle Wax : Extreme Bug and Tar Remover and drenched the affected area with it. We let it sit for about 10min and let the stuff do its job. Then we wiped it off with a microfiber towel while at the same time heating it with a hair dryer. The result came out borderline perfect!

hope that helps!

Super old. completley forgot i posted this. but i did fix it myself. thanks for all the criticism and for putting me down. lol, i did make a terrible mistake. Smart that I grew a pair and tried my self to fix? Either way i would have had to pay someone to do it, so i guess it better if i try first. Good thing i did. I think i did an ok job, for now. I do plan to paint the whole car later on.

i sanded with 800 grit, and just did the best i can to spray base and clear coat. waited a couple hours in between layers.
