Question Zaino Product Value

I am looking to apply Zaino to a new G35, but I have some issues with the value of some of the products.

Specifically, the claybar @ $25 seems high. The 2 claybays are very small in the kit pictures (look like 2 Mars bars). Other clay bars I have seen are much larger..closer to a brick size.

Is one clay bar as good as any other?

I don't think there is anything really special about their clay bars.......except the price!
I have been using Clay Majic for years.
It is about $9.95 at the local Auto Zone.

Zaino products are great. I also use Clay Magic clay bar. It works great. Zaino's claybar is $16.95+$8.95 for shipping. I would only get it if I was ordering other products from them, if not go with ClayMagic. As far as one clay bar being better than another. I have only used Clay Magic but have been told there is a difference by people on this forum.

I've been told by dabomb that the zaino claybar is much more plyable (or softer) than the others. This should reduce your chances of scratching the clear coat.

Yea that was my reaction two years ago. A friend at work used to rave about it, saying it was the only polish that he would put on his car after trying it a few years before. I too was sceptical, and kept using megires. One day I ran out of polish and wax so I decided to give zaino a try. Every time I use it, especially on my wifes black Pathfinder my jaw drops when I am done. I will probably never use any other polish on my car. It tuly is optically perfect.

From what I know there are only about 2 manufactures of clay bars so overall the choice comes down to what color u like. The Claymagic is a great product and we have used it many times with no problems at all. nI do know there is a new claybar on the market but I am not able to remember the name of it right off hand.

Either way u cannot go wrong with Zaino products and I am sure you will be very happy with the turnout of your job.

Zaino is good, but there are products out there that are just as good or better. Personally I have used Zaino, but I like Menzerna much better. I apply my polish/wax with a machine buffer. 3M P-III line is good as well as Pinnacle, Poorboys, Klasse, etc. There is an endless list. If you are really serious about detailing, check out autopia.org.

Like others have said you can pick up claybar cheaper elsewhere, it's the same thing. I have tried many waxes and polishes, and Zaino is the best I have ever used no contest. If you think it looks amazing after just the first coat, wait till you see it after 4 or 5 coats =)

Also the anti-dust properties of Z6 is unmatched by anything else out there, I even use it on my wheels for drastically reduced brake dust deposits. Highly recommended, as this actually saves you time and money by not having to wash so frequently.

Hi! I have washed my car with Mr. Clean yesterday, and found out that my whole car is kind of covered by a layer of "glue". Meanwhile, I am also planning to purchase Zaino because my car is in black, and I really want to keep it "bling bling", always. So, do I have to remove that layer of glue before applying Zaino? Where can I purchase Zaino? online stores only? I have never waxed a car before; are there anything that I have to be caution during the whole process?

I cant wait to try out Zaino!

let me just start off by saying... wax noob here.

anyway, how often do you guys wax your cars with the 'claybars'? also, does this help at all when you first get the car or do you do it after a few carwashes to "maintain" the bling bling..

i used it on my old car... it was yellow. tar marks showed up real bad around the fenders. even then i only used it when necessary. i always sprayed a light mist of water on the area and gently rubbed the marks off. worked really well. someone mentioned it being plyable earlier. i also concur with this statement. one pro is that u can fold the bar over and over... getting multiple uses (just like silly putty... they still make that?) imo lighter coloured cars will get more use. i'm getting a black G... so i don't think that i will use it as often. i bought a whole kit from zaino... i think u save a little that way. i also received 2 bars. i've attached a pic of the 1 remaining bar that i have. for visual reference i've added a floppy disc (can't find my damn ruler!).

ps... i've never used any other clay bars... so i can't compare how the zaino one compares... but i've been extremely happy with my kit from them.

A claybar is not a wax. It is used to remove particles that inbed themselves in the paint. A new car shouldn't have a need for a claybar. The rear bumper will likely need the claybar the most as the negative pressure behind the car tends to pull up small particles from the road that land on the bumper. To use it, you use the provided spray or one that is recommended(usually nothing more than a detail spray) to wet the surface. then you take a piece of the clay that you flatten with your fingers and rubi ti across the surface. Small particles will actually be pulled up into the clay out of the paint leaving a smooth surface. You should apply wax after using a claybar. I'd speculate the bar will tend to puck up wax too.

As far as differences, yes, they are different. I can't comment on all, but my Mother's clay bar is crap. It pulled nothing out of the paint. While my 6 year old Clay Magic Bar works wonderfully. It pulled out light overspray on the paint of 2 cars while the Mother's Clay Bar didn't remove any of it.

As far as the size of the bar, it makes no difference. I only use about a 1/4 of the Clay Magic bar I have at any given time. A bigger bar will just means you have more.
