brake dust cleaners

What do you use to clean the brake dust off your rims? Will a certain house hold cleaner do the trick?

You can use Purple Power or Simply Green

But I find Megauirs Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner does an amazing job. Just make sure to rinse well and dont let it sit too long.

sonax full effect wheel cleaner - spray on, let dwell, slight agitation needed for heavier build up, rinse off, dry, DONE

safest and best wheel cleaner I have used. I used to use P21s gel, but it left me reaching for acid all the time. Now I use sonax and the acid hardly comes out!

with any cleaner, dont use it in the sun or on hot wheels after a long drive!

First of all you never want to clean any wheels if they're hot, let em cool before spraying anything on them. You can clean most wheels with what manufactures offer but I'd do one at a time and rinse throughly. Wheels (Volks) like mine that I've removed the clear coat and had polished I clean with detail spray (cold) and apply Mothers metal cleaner with microfiber towels....Gary

If you want to ensure that a brake dust cleaner is effective is to use the correct type and use it thoroughly.

SONAX Wheel Cleaner Full Effect is safe on almost every wheel finish including painted wheels. As mentioned above just make sure the wheels and brake pads are cool and this pH neutral cleaner will impress you quickly!

Is this safe to use on the stock wheels of a 2003.5 sedan (6 spokes)? The website says:

Safe on chrome, alloy, anodized, stainless steel, clear coat and polished wheels

And I think mine are aluminum?
