Detailing 101 ( BMW X3 )

Hi guys

I have an X3 in for minor paint correction. The paint was pretty sorry and the goal was to remove 50%+ paint defects. The interior was not bad...just wipe down and vacuum was all that it needed.

here's the process

Clean wheels & tires, tar and iron removal
Foam with OPC via Kranzle k1120T + Foam cannon
2BM wash, followed with Tar & Iron removal
Clay bar treatment
IPA wipedown, blow and towel dried
Masking tape
Polished with GG 5in & 3in DA polishers via Uber green pad with Menz powerfinish
Rewash- IPA wipedown- Paint cleanse with CG Blacklight
3 coats of Opti-seal
Interior wipedown and vacuum
Dress tires, seal wheels with Opti-seal
Cleanse glass with DG105 and clean with AF crystal

Thanks for looking!!

Great job! I will try your way for the wheels next time. I usually begin by spraying the wheel cleaner first, then clean, but I saw that you cleaned the wheels first, then went over it with the Sonax. Do you usually get much better results that way?

I love Sonax while I had it, but I'm using Wolfs De0ionizer at the momemt

My steps on wheel cleaning
  1. Make sure wheels are cool
  2. Rinse
  3. Spray wheel cleaner
  4. Agitate
  5. Rinse
  6. Remove any tar with stoner's tarminator
  7. Rinse
  8. Apply IronX or Wolf's Deionizer

I hope this helps!

Franki

are these the rivets you're talking about?

I like using the swissvax wheel or detail brush for those areas

Nobody likes a dirty keyhole.

Great job getting the swirls/micro scratches out! My wife has a black Envoy and it took a ton of work to get them out.
