If you want something that makes darker-colored paint really pop, Surf City Garage's Barrier Reef paste wax is awesome. It only takes a super light coat, too.

It actually makes my OB paint look darker and glossier than the NXT 2.0 does. And it seems to last a bit longer, too, considering it's a carnauba, and not a polymer-based wax.

Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax seems to work pretty well, too. My girlfriend picked it up by accident when I told her to buy some Ultimate Compound. So far, it's been on her car about a month and a half, and is beading as well as the day we waxed it.

 

Thanks. My car is Serengeti Sand, so I am trying to find a wax thats better for lighter colored cars.

Has anyone tried Ultimate wax on a light colored car compared to other waxes?

Regardless, the Surf City Garage is a great wax all around. It's definitely worth the $20. I used it on my sister's silver '05 Sedan, and it shined up pretty nicely.

 

Well here's what Wolf's Chemicals Hard Body looks like. For a lighter colored car, you don't really want a darkening effect, you'll want a bright, glossy glass look IMO. I don't have any pictures of it on lighter colored cars, but it looks great. Actually the Porsche has Body Wrap on it, but they look very similar.

Keep in mind the durability is about 2 years, the coating is scratch-resistant and also repels dirt very well.

Not sure which thread, but most likely. Hard Body is only came out a little over a month ago. I've tried about 40 LSP and this has been my overall favorite by far. Opti-Coat and other coatings are somewhat better IMO, but they are MUCH more expensive and require a lot more prep to apply. I think I can get about ~20 cars out of a $40 bottle of hard body. Opti-coat and every other coating is $60+ for 2 cars worth

 

I don't remember which thread either, but that's why I said the "other" thread. Because I remember mentioning OptiCoat at one point and you saying something about experimenting with the Hard Body.

I might give the Hard Body a try then if I decide to repaint my car in the spring...

 

Thanks, Surf City Garage and Wolf's hard body seem like pretty solid waxes. Decisions, Decisions... I think I have it narrowed down to about 10 down

I actually would like to try 1 of the 2 Dodo Juuice waxes for lighter cars, but its hard justifying the price compared to other waxes.

 

Don't buy into the hype of higher priced waxes. My $329 jar of Swissvax Concourso just sits on the shelf and hasn't been touched in months. Also, waxes generally make the car look darker while sealants/coatings are brighter, so I would go with the latter. But it's your car, try out both and see what works better.

If you just want an easy sealant that can be applied over anything, doesn't have any special properties and only last ~4-6 months with a nice look, get Menzerna Powerlock.

Dodo Juice isn't worth the money. The only wax I'd pay over $50 for is Zymol's Carbon Wax for darker cars.
